Amazing piece, antique rocking horse minus his rocker definitely “show horse”
caliber, the old horse presumed to be hand carved and hand painted. The lovely
antique is in extremely rough shape and needs some structural work as well as
aesthetic touches… his cement tail holder is crumbly.
It appears that paints may have been added to his tail perhaps not original,
there are other variations of paint on his back legs that sort of match the
color of tail.
Kitschy embellishment around tail not certain they were original to this
rocking horse. The tail is primitively painted rope fastened by a cracking
piece of cement which is painted the same color.
Chippy and faded paint abounding …on and around saddle, down and around body
and legs, main, mouth ears etc. the horse has an abundance of mars, chipped and
cracked wood, grungy aged patina. Missing it’s original rocker he can only
stand. With all four legs, major signs of age with cracks in all the legs, the
worst being the rear left leg a rather deep crack through the thigh.
The former Rocking horse is missing its handle, the dowels that enabled
children to rock! This ran just under the horses lead/ halter.
The horse needs some work he does stand on his four hooves… Minor teeter side
to side. The horse cannot bear weight. currently resides on my counter top.
There are some nails extending through the bottom.

My girlfriend bought him from an estate sale. I was going to hang him above my
breakfast bar not sure how to achieve that and so I decided to offer him here
